When you first enter your Professional Experience (PEX) placement centre, you may feel a little overwhelmed in a new environment.  List three strategies you could use to help you to build relationships with the other educators in this new environment.

Look at the tips listed in the BRiTE site.  Did you have any of these?

When you are on a Professional Experience placement, your supervising teacher / mentor will most likely be the teacher you work most closely with and who supports you as you take on more responsibility in the early childhood centre.  Read the tips listed below.  Identify two tips you think are the most significant ones for you that you will be sure to follow when you head into your PEX.

Teamwork is an essential component of an early childhood centre. The tips listed in BRiTE are:

  • Be respectful
  • Be supportive
  • Be approachable
  • Be positive
  • Be patient
  • Be professional
  • Be dependable
  • Be open-minded
  • Be a team player

In the tutorials – we will discuss these in pairs / small groups and discuss some specific ways these can be demonstrated, then discuss as a group.
